Requesting leave

If your venue tracks leave through Tabology, you can request leave via your staff login.


To request leave, log into the back office & select Staff rotas > Leave.


In the Leave module, select Request leave.


You will be presented with a form to enter the details of your leave request.


Note: If you are a leave approver you will be able to submit a leave request on behalf of another member of staff by selecting the member of staff from the Staff member dropdown. The staff member details banner will update when the staff member is selected from the list.



Select the type of leave from the Type dropdown.


Note: If you don't see the leave type you want to request, you will need to check that you have been allocated to the leave type on the staff tab of the leave type setup, or from the staff details page


Once you have selected a leave type, the current balance (hours) you have, will display in the left hand box above the form.


Note: Your current leave balance is your starting or accrued balance minus hours for any approved leave requests within the holiday year.



In the Duration dropdown, select the duration required:

  • Full day
  • Part day (a start & finish time can be entered)
  • Multiple days (a date range can be selected, with multiple start & finish times if required)



Full day

For a full day leave request, select the date and click the green Apply button.


Note: The Totals boxes will now update to show the number of hours requested and the New balance assuming this leave request is approved.



The number of hours will default to the daily default hours for your venue, but you can update this to more accurately reflect your usual hours for the day you are requesting.


Part day

For a part day leave request and click the green Apply button.


Select the start time and end time for your part day leave. The number of hours will be based on the start time and end time you have requested.



Multiple days

For a Multiple days request, select the date range and click the green Apply button.



Each of the days in the range will be displayed below the form, with the hours populated using your venue's default hours. If required, these should be updated to reflect the hours you would usually work on each day, setting any days you wouldn't usually work to zero.


If you are only requesting leave for part of some of the days, you can switch the Hours toggle to Times, located to the right of the day, and enter a start and end time.


The Totals boxes at the top of the form will update to reflect the requested hours & the new balance hours.



For any leave requests you can add optional Notes for the approver.


When you have filled in the details for your request, click the Submit leave request button. 



NoteFor all leave requests, if the date you are selecting is in the following holiday year, a yellow warning triangle will display in the Current balance box. The New balance will show as negative, until the new holiday year has started and holiday hours have been assigned/accrued.
