Enabling upfront deposits

If you would like to guests to pay a deposit when they book a table with you, you can enable upfront deposits in the back office.

To enable upfront deposits, go into your back office & select Setup > Bookings from the left hand navigation.

In the Booking widget setup screen, select Deposits from the tab row at the top of the screen.

If you haven't already connected a payment processor for mobile ordering or deposit links you'll need to connect one. This is the processor that will be used to take the card payments for the deposit payments.

Click the connect button for your preferred processor and you will be walked through the steps to create a new account or link an existing account.

If you have already connected a payment processor, you will see the one you are linked to.

In the Upfront deposits section, from the dropdown choose which type of upfront deposit you would like to apply to all your bookings:

  • Flat deposit - A set amount assigned to all bookings
  • Per cover deposit - An amount required per cover on the booking

In the Amount field, enter the amount required.

Note: You may also want to set your deposit policy wording, which will display to your customer when they pay their deposit.

From the bottom of the page, click the blue Save button.

Guests booking via your booking form will now be presented with the request to pay the required deposit prior to their booking being submitted.

You will be able to see the deposit when viewing the booking on the back office. If you need to refund a deposit you can do this by pressing the refund icon to the right of the deposit.

Note: If your booking set up results in some bookings being received as requests (for example, you include joining tables in availability, or you have a minimum notice period for auto-confirming bookings), deposits will still be collected. If you don't have availability to accommodate the request you can refund the deposit as above.

When the guest arrives you can open a tab with their deposit on it as credit.
