Setting a delivery area in Google maps

If you have delivery enabled on mobile ordering, you may want to set a delivery area to restrict orders from being placed for outside the area you deliver to.

If you want to set multiple areas, each with a different delivery fee, see Setting multiple delivery areas.

To set a delivery area you will first need to outline your areas using Google maps.

1. In the search bar enter the following web address: http://mapsengine.google.com/map/

2. To the left of the screen, click on the red box, Create a new map.

3. Enter your business' address, into the white search bar & select the correct address.

4. Your business will be identified by the green pin on the map. If you can't see your entire delivery area, you will need to zoom out/in. To rename your map, click on the text Untitled Map. A popup box will display for you to rename your map.

5. Underneath the white search bar, there will be an icon that looks similar to an incomplete triangle. Hover over the icon. From the dropdown select Add a line or shape.

6. To create your delivery area, choose a point where you want to begin & click on the map.

Note: If the shape of the area is incorrect, you don't need to delete it or start again, you can adjust the area later on.

7. Once all the lines are connected, a popup box will display for you to name your area & give it a description. Give your area a name e.g. Delivery area, and make a note of it.

The circular points along the delivery area you have created, can be expanded further, by dragging if you need to alter the size of the area.

Click Save, when you are happy with your area.

8. When you have finished drawing your map, click on the 3 vertical dots to right hand side of your map name & click the Export to KML/KMZ, highlighted in grey from the dropdown box.

9. A popup screen will display to export your map. Ensure the option for Entire Map is selected & tick the option for Export as KML, instead of KMZ

Click the blue Download button.

If required, you can set multiple delivery areas. Otherwise you can now upload your delivery area in the back office.
