Setting up your Star Micronics TSP143LAN & cash drawer

This article shows the setup for the Star Micronics TSP413LAN and cash drawer.

Unpack the main printer unit and remove from the box. Select the appropriate plug for your location (US, EU and UK adaptors are included).

Locate the ports on the back of the printer. From left to right in the below image:

  • RJ45 Ethernet Port - you connect the printer to the switch via RJ45 ethernet cable
  • The next port is not used 
  • RJ11 Ethernet Port (aka DK Drawkick port) - you connect the cash drawer to the printer via the cash drawer's built-in RJ11 ethernet cable
  • Power port - this is the power port where the supplied kettle lead needs to be plugged in

Push the lever on the right of the printer to open and insert an 80mm width thermal till roll into the printer. (There is a sample provided with the printer).

Ensure the glossy side is face down and the end of the roll reaches out of the printer, then close the printer again.

Note: To check which side of the paper is the glossy side you can scratch it and a light grey mark will appear

Plug the power cable into the mains and turn the printer on using the switch on the left hand side.

To check the printer is ready to connect to you can follow these steps to check the printer's IP address. This will also help you with which printer to select when trying to connect to it in the EPOS app.


You can now manage your printer in the EPOS app to set which jobs you would like it to do.
