Setting card pre-authorisations for bookings

You can request card pre-authorisations as alternative to requesting up front deposits. With card pre-authorisations, guests enter their card details when they make a booking with you, but no money is taken as long as the guests attend the booking or cancel within your stated cancellation policy.

If a guest doesn't attend their booking, or cancels last minute, you can charge a no show fee using their stored card details.

Note: Card pre-authorisations are only currently available with PayPal.

To set up card pre-authorisation for bookings, go into your back office & select Bookings > Booking types from the left hand navigation.

Locate the booking type you would like to take card pre-authorisations for, and click the blue Edit button. Alternatively add a new booking type.

Click the Deposits & pre auths tab, then toggle the setting Require card pre-authorisations to on.

Further fields will open up for you to customise your pre-authorisation.

From the Pre auth type dropdown, choose the type of pre-auth required:

  • Flat pre-auth - one set value per booking
  • Per cover pre-auth - a set value per cover

In the blank pre-auth amount field, enter the value required for the pre-authorisation.

Click the blue Save button, to save your changes.

Guests will now be requested to enter their card details when making a booking for this booking type and you will be able to charge a no show fee if required.
