Linking a central category to an individual site category

If you already have some categories created at site level and you would like them to be centrally managed, you can link an existing or a new central category to it.

Note, if you push a product that is in a category that isn't linked to one on an individual site, the system will still try to place it in the correct category by matching on the category name. However if you have multiple categories with similar names e.g. "starters" & "kids starters" this can cause a product to appear in both, so it is recommended to link each central category to its equivalent on the individual sites.

To link a category on your central dashboard to one on an individual site, press 'EDIT' at the bottom of the category button.

A dropdown field will be displayed for you to select the category on the site to link to this central category (usually it will have the same or a very similar name).

Select the correct category.

Note: if you don't see the category in this list, it may be that it doesn't exist on the site in which case you will want to push the category instead.

Then press 'Link with this existing category'.

You will then see the linked category displayed along with the options that you can change on a site level - name, parent category & active flag.
