Authorising a new EPOS iPad

This article covers how to authorise a new iPad if you need to swap one of the iPads you use for your EPOS.

On rare occasions iOS updates can cause the unique identifier of an iPad to change (any iPad updating to iOS 14.6 will experience this). If this happens you can follow the below steps to reauthorise the same iPad with its new identifier.

When you open the EPOS app on a new iPad (or iPad with a changed identifier), you will be prompted to log in with your site ID and access token (or "local" for both if you have an onsite server). The iPad will remember these If these have been entered before.

On signing in, if the ID of the iPad doesn't match any existing devices you will be prompted to select the device name that you want the new iPad (or iPad with changed ID) to be.

Tip: You can change the device names so it is clearer to you which iPad is which device.

You will see the last time each device was online, which should help you identify which iPad it is you want to replace if you can't remember the name.

In the above screenshot, BarTab 1, 2, 3 and 5 are all currently online, so the device name for the iPad to be connected is likely to be BarTab 4.

On selecting the device name, your iPad will be connected as that device.

To avoid the identifier of the iPad changing frequently it's important to check the following settings:

  • Settings > Privacy > Tracking > Ensure "Allow Apps to Request to Track" is enabled (if the BarTab EPOS app is listed ensure it is enabled also)
  • Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising > "Personalised Ads" is enabled
